Checkers @ Bukit Damansara

Thursday, April 27, 2006

I have a copy of FriedChillies Foodsters Guide. This particular restaurant really caught my attention. Checkers is hiding in a housing area in Bukit Damansara. Lucikly I have a copy of Street Directory, otherwise I wouldn't able to find it.

Most of the people come here for their ribs. I can't find many blog talking about Checkers, Foodsafari has an entry 2 years+ back, she has mentioned that Checker's ribs is comparable with Tony Roma's. There isn't any Tony Roma's restaurant in Malaysia, but Damansara do have another ribs specialist called The Rips Shop. I can't comment if Checker is better than Tony Roma's or The Ribs Shop, cox I never try any of them, I don't order ribs usually, hehehe.

I had my dinner with eatinout and MF and Checkers yesterday. It's very hard to find the place if you're not familiar with Bukit Damansara, eatinout and MF took a long way to find it. This is what we had.

LOTR (Lord Of The Ribs, RM88)

Jamar an Chicken (RM35)

I food not bad, just a bit pricy. I will return for thier porky's best.

If u like to visit checkers, please call to make the reservation, otherwise you may end up eating somewhere. Call after 6pm

Roadhouse Grill still the best ribs for me, I've been past the Rib Shop quite a few times though and haven't tried it yet.

Will do so soon!

If you like pork then you should check out this place called El Cerdo in KL.

Funny thing about the Rib Shop tho - it is so famous as a "rib speciallist" but when my friends went there, they tried it and commented that it wasn't really THAT nice....

Oh well.
Checkers looks good tho.
:)
Will try it some day.

Wow! Long time no makan at Checkers. That place is tucked away in the Dsara Heights area next to Hot Choc Cafe which I wonder if it's still around.

Yeah the ribs are very good there - much better than Rib Shop. Only problem is the owner can have "wind" sometimes and it's super small place unless they have done something abt expansion. Eh, no signature watermelon on your plate?

J : Thanks for the suggestion, I'll note down El Cerdo. Would like to pay a visit ;)

boo_licious :i dunno the watermelon is signature at all. That was my first visit, I'm sure I've missed out their best selling, will return again. The restaurant is small, I believe it's still remain as your last visit.

joan chew: ya.. expensive, but the serving is large... eat once a while ok la..

mf, boo_licious: anything nice about hot choc? I notice that shop when I was there.
