Restoran Mee Yoke Lim @ Cheow Yang area

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

I was at Cheow Yang area last weekend, notice this restaurant named "Mee Yoke Lim", it's name after prawn mee. I guess the prawn mee must be good so I decided to stop here to have my late lunch.

Prawn mee is the name we use in Klang Valley, it's orginated from Penang. Penang people call this as Hokkien Mee or something referred as mee yoke. Not sure how it become "Prawn Mee", maybe not to confuse with Hokkien fried noodles (check out my previous post on lien bee hokkien mee for Klang Valley hokkien mee).

I prefer prawn mee served with mixture of yellow noodles and rice noodles. The key for good prawn mee is the soup. This clear soup usually make from fresh shrimps, dried parwns, prawn head, shell, stock bones or chicken and chilies. Usually garnished with prawn, water morning-glory, bean sprouts, shredded pork and shallot crisps. The prawn mee in Mee Yoke Lim is a good one. I reckon there are branches in SS2 as well.

We also order Assam Laksa in the same coffee shop. Taste bad.
